What is Abstract Art?

Abstract art is art that is not an accurate representation of a form or object. This representation can be different in many ways including the shape, colour, and form. The artist then takes the object and either simplifies it or exaggerates it using the above. There are many different abstract styles. Three forms of abstract art that really stand out are Cubism, Neoplasticism, and Abstract Expressionism.

How to Select Art for your home or business!

The keys to selecting great art for your space are as follows

  • What kind of art do you like?
  • How will the piece fit into your current surroundings
  • What size of art are you looking for
  • How will the art be displayed

Helpful Tips

  • As a general rule the centre of your painting should be at eye level
  • When selecting a painting to match a colour in your space, select one or two of the most prevalent colours. Once you have determined the most prevalent colour(s) find art with one of those colours in it. The colour doesn’t have to be an exact match, just close in proximity so that it fits the space.
  • Selection of art with neutral colours or black and white can make art fit into your space with little effort
